中国西部民族地区公共图书馆是图书馆学研究较为薄弱的领域，文章采用质性研究方法和书评方法，从新世纪全面建设小康社会和西部大开发的战略高度，系统阐述西部民族地区公共图书馆研究的重要性，通过全面评价冯云博士的著作《全面小康视域下西部民族地区公共图书馆发展路径研究》，阐述西部民族地区公共图书馆的研究范围和主要内容，呼吁图书馆学界在未来的二十五年应从多个维度持续加强对西部民族地区公共图书馆的系统性研究，以开创西部民族地区公共图书馆研究的新格局，从而推动其实现高质量、可持续发展。
Abstract：The public libraries in the western ethnic minority areas of China represent a relatively under-researched field in library science. This article adopts qualitative research methods and book review approaches to systematically elaborate on the importance of studying public libraries in western ethnic minority regions, from the strategic perspectives of building a moderately prosperous society in the new century and the development of western China. By comprehensively evaluating Dr.Feng Yun's work, Research on the Development Path of Public Libraries in Ethnic Minority Areas of Western China from the Perspective of Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in all Respects, the article clarifies research scope and main content on public libraries in these areas. It calls on the library science community to enhance research on public libraries in the western ethnic minority areas of China from multiple dimensions over the next 25 years, aiming to pioneer a new pattern in this field and thereby facilitate the high-quality and sustainable development of public libraries in the western ethnic minority areas of China.
